What is the St. Pius X Parents' Association

The Parents Association represent the parents of the pupils of both St Pius X Boys National School and St Pius X Girls National School.

We work with the principals of both schools, Mr Dermot Lynch (Boys’ School Principal) and Ms Miriam Marron (Girls’ School Principal), their respective staff and the Boards of Management of both schools, to provide a partnership between home and school.

Date: Sept 9th 2016 NPC Survey - Parents views on After School Childcare

The Department of Education and Skills (DES) and the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA) with the assistance of the National Parents Council Primary (NPC) are conducting a survey of parents’ views and needs in relation to the supply and demand of after school care for school-aged children with a view to informing the work of the Department in contributing to the after school commitments expressed in the Programme for Government.

To find out the views of parents of children in primary school on:
· The availability of school-age childcare in the area;
· The type of school-age childcare currently used by the parent;
· The type of school-age childcare that would be preferred by the parent ;

The survey is seeking your views, as a parent, on the extent of existing after school care and the potential demand for same. It would be greatly appreciated if you could take the time to complete this survey as your views are important in considering this issue. All information you provide will be treated in the strictest confidence and will not be shared or used for any other purposes. All information is provided on an anonymous basis.

Date: April 15th 2016 NPC Information & Conference
The NPC Annual Conference will be taking place on the 28th of May 2016 in the National College of Ireland, Dublin 1.

The title and theme of this year’s conference will be Ready, Steady, Learn - Parents supporting their Children’s Healthy Learning

Children need to be ready to learn, therefore this conference will encompass how parents can actively support their children’s mental (emotional), physical (nutritional) and creative health.

The Keynote Speaker will be Shane Martin, a leading Psychologist within the area of education. Shane’s presentation will be POSITIVE PARENTING: Harnessing Strengths within Children We all want children to grow into happy adults; but sometimes we feel as though we have little real influence over them as they grow older. New scientific research reveals that happiness can be cultivated within the home, school and community and that parenting styles and practices have a tremendous effect on children’s emotional outlook on life. By promoting some basic positive traits and harnessing their inner strengths we can encourage our children to have a more positive view of self, others and the world. Parenting can be challenging but also a positive and fulfilling experience. We need to work at being more ‘positive’ in our approach.

Further information will follow shortly. If you would like to register for conference please click here

Healthy eating and physical activity are vital for good health for everyone, especially children as they grow and develop, physically, psychologically and socially. Ideally, being active in a fun, easy and fulfilling way becomes a part of everyone's daily lives; especially as active children are more likely to choose other healthy behaviours. More here
